The Evidence Department is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If

you are attempting to have property returned to you, please note

most require a letter of Release of Evidence from the District

Attorney's Office.

 If your property is eligible for release, the Evidence Technician may call and an appointment will be scheduled for you to pick it up. You may also call the Evidence Technician directly at (775) 777 -2527 to inquire about your property. You will be asked to provide a case number. Property is released by appointment only. The release of property requires considerable processing. Please do not expect to get your property returned the same day you request it. You will be required to present valid, government issued photo identification in order to claim your property.


The Elko County Sheriff's Department  currently has a system for prescription drug disposal. Drugs can be placed in the receptacle in Sheriff's Administrative office at 775 W. Silver St.. Lobby hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Excluding Holidays.).
