Cops and Burgers is a yearly event the Sheriff's Office, along with other law enforcement officers, host to support the Nevada Special Olympics. The Sheriff's Office encourages the public to come down and let the Deputies serve you  hamburgers, hot dogs or chorizos.. This even it typically held in the month of July.

Applications for FLEAT  are due no later than June 7th 2018. Please complete the FLEAT Application and the FLEAT Wavier of Liability. Once those are complete contact Deputy Bribiesca at 775-397-7014 or Deputy Sherwood at 775-397-7017 to set up a time to turn in the papers and to pay the $75.00 fee. Cash and check are the only forms of payment that will be accepted. Checks can be made payable to ELKO COUNTY SHERIFF'S CADETS.


Annually, in the month of December, the Sheriff, Deputies and civilian employees will join other members of law enforcement for "Shop With a Cop."  The objective of Shop with a Cop is to make this an opportunity for children who are from low income families to experience a positive one-on-one experience with law enforcement officers.  We include children from all walks of life. 

Each child has a gift certificate to shop with.  A Police Officer will accompanying the child.   


 National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that is celebrated nationwide. The Sheriff's Office  hosts this event the first Tuesday of each August. The campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer, better place to live. National Night Out is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for local anti-crime efforts
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
